T. Tiger as Butterfly Nursery Assistant
These are busy times in the milkweed patch! I guess all I had to do was call out that butterfly that I thought was the last one. Well, it wasn't. NOT BY A LONG SHOT!
We were sitting at the edge of the milkweed patch in the afternoon, when a brand new female butterfly walked out! Yes, they are still coming!
In this photo, T. Tiger monitors the progress of what I thought was the last chrysalis. But it turns out there is yet another fresh green chrysalis; I found it hanging from jewelweed at the front of the hedge.
This one took a while. It is finally getting darker and darker and we thought today might be its day to eclose. But it wasn't. T. Tiger reports that all is well, but this one needs just a little more time!
Like Druids, perhaps, butterflies are never late. Nor are they early. They arrive precisely when they mean to!!!
Here is a song for all of that: Paul Simon, with Born at the Right Time.
