I had such a surprise when I lifted up a plant pot earlier.  I was expecting to see a slug or two but not a newt laying on its back!  Very strange.   I thought it was dead as it wasn't moving.  Gently picked it up and put it on some grass and it did stir slightly.  Eventually I moved it under a shrub and when I checked later it had gone, so a happy ending I hope!  Photos taken with the phone, but wish I'd gone indoors for the camera.
