Chygurno.
Sometimes things are just meant to be.
After going to Newlyn to buy more fish, I dropped MrC off at Penlee House, Penzance and managed to get the last spot in the car park nearby.
The Orangery Cafe never disappoints and this time we had THE most delicious crab sandwiches.
Best so far this holiday.
I was looking at their notice board, and saw an advert fir a garden I have wanted to visit fir many years.
Guess what it was open today from 2 - 5 pm.
So that is where we went this afternoon.
What an absolute delight walking or rather climbing through the garden.
Some of you may have seen it on Gardener’s World.
The house was built in 1908 and was a refuge for suffragettes leaving prison, allowing them a place where they could recuperate.
Robert and Carol Moule moved here in 1997 after the house had been empty for 20 years.
They then began work on the garden.
Cutting terraces into the steep hillside, and moving 100 tonnes of gravel to make the paths.
Poor soil and little depth works well for the exotic plants which are native to South Africa and New Zealand.
You need to be a mountaineer and also have a head fir heights to just walk up and down the steep paths and steps, but what a joy.
The views of Lamorna Cove are breathtaking.
I had the place to myself, and also had a nice chat with Robert Moule who told me about how they had built the garden over the years.
Still an ongoing task.
I have put a collage on as. An extra. Unfortunately the photos don’t do the garden justice. If you get chance and don’t mind climbing it is well worth a visit.
Many thanks to Mr C who patiently sat in the car while I looked round.
Also many thanks to you all for your kind comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s sunset.
