Frilly

A few more daffodils have been finding their way into the house....well, let's face it I'm not going to go into the garden and stand in a freezing wind to appreciate them! I picked a bud and when it opened I realised it was different from the others and had a frilly centre. My Mum gave us a whole collection of daffodils, narcissi and tulip bulbs from her garden (which she'd had removed and dried) in the summer of 2009. In October of that year she went into a nursing home and by February 2010 had passed away. So when the flowers bloomed in Spring 2010 in our garden, it was like it was in memory of her. We decided, last year, to only keep the absolute best of what she gave us (as there were so many leaves everywhere for so long into the summer), so we removed a lot of them and gave them to a friend with a much bigger garden. But the others are still blooming, and I know she would be glad the remainder had gone to someone who appreciates them too.
