Phu Quoc Prison "A Hell on Earth"
Phu Quoc Island is a beautiful place. However once upon a time it was home to Phu Quoc Prison, originally made by the French during their rule but at its worst during the Vietnam war where the South Vietnamese allied with America kept prisoners of war. From what we have learnt of the Vietnam war it seemed a real struggle on both sides. Although the historic information in this prison seems to tell a very bias story, we both couldn't comprehend the torture that went on here. It's surprising how anybody made it out alive. The prison museum refers to Phu Quoc as becoming a "living hell on earth" during this time.
In this pic it shows how a few prisoners of war cleverly dug their way out of prison grounds using spoons and anything they could find. I for one couldn't speak for a while after leaving the prison museum for the thought of what people did to eachother and if anyone knows me that's saying something!
