ICM - Reeds
Another beautiful warm and sunny day. This morning I went to a U3A photo shoot at Holt Country Park. A poor turn out of only 5 of us. I expected us to go round as a couple of smaller groups, but everyone apart from me wanted to go off separately. This is an intentional camera movement photo of the reeds at the pond there. I did get a shot of a dragon in flight, but it wasn't sharp enough. More gardening this afternoon. I was down to a third of a tank of petrol and I'm off to Norwich on Monday, so I drove out to a petrol station to fill up - it was extremely busy!!!
Day 557 / Day 68 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
England's R no. has fallen slightly to 0.8-1.0, with a growth rate of between -3% and -1% a day. The weekly ONS infection survey of private households has shown in the week to 18/9, 1 in 90 had the virus in England (down); 1 in 45 in Scotland (unchanged); 1 in 60 in Wales (unchanged) and 1 in 60 in NI (up). The Scottish govt and NI Executive are dropping the requirement for fully vaccinated travellers to take a pre-departure PCR test, aligning with England (Wales has not yet made a decision). The Institute for Public Policy Research has estimated 19,500 people should have been diagnosed with cancer but haven't, due to missed referrals during the pandemic. They've estimated that if hospitals could increase the no. of treatments by 5% over pre-pandemic levels, then the backlog wouldn't be cleared until 2023 - a 15% increase is needed.
