Hell Stone

It's been another lovely day, bright sunshine and quite warm.

We went for a walk near the Hardy Monument (Captain 'Kiss Me' Hardy not Thomas) to have a look at this 'sort of' dolmen. These stones made up a Neolithic Long Barrow from about 6,000 years ago. The Barrow is long gone and the stones fell into ruin, the cap stone becoming dislodged. A Victorian vicar decided to put it back together, unfortunately he was no archeologist and didn't have a clue...

Even so, these are stones from a long barrow, the cap stone is back on the uprights and it is a strangely evocative place.

Extras include the eagerly anticipated tractor photograph. The farmers here have started cutting the maize for silage to see them through the winter, it looks like a lot of the work is given over to contractors. This tractor is a Valtra, I've seen quite a lot of them hereabouts, none back at home in Cambridgeshire.

It being the last day of our stay in Dorset we treated ourselves to fish and chips sitting on The Cobb, we met these two lovely people and now I know what SteamPunk is all about.
