Embrace
The past 18 months have created a place where the physical embrace has been absent for many of us. To embrace is to show vulnerability and strength moulded together. An expression of trust, support and love
"The strongest love is the love that can demonstrate its fragility."
Paulo Coelho,
Note
The sculpture is in Stormont Estate and shows a man and a woman embracing each other across strands of barbed wire.
The inscription on the sculpture reads: “These sculptures remind us that human dignity and love will triumph over disaster and bring us together in respect and peace.”
Created by Josephina De Vasconcellos, it was presented by Coventry Cathedral and Sir Richard Branson. Identical sculptures have been placed on behalf of the people of Coventry in Hiroshima, Berlin and Jerusalem. The sculptures remind us that human dignity and love will triumph over disaster and bring us together in respect and peace.
