An ordinary life....

Biker's sunset...

Backblipped 24.09.21

Today we had a more leisurely start to the day.  Andrew headed over to Alan's cottage as Ally had promised to give him a wet shave.  She told him she was experienced and had only cut three throats in the past!  lol  She did a very good job and he was happy with the result, especially as his throat was left un-cut :D

After lunch they headed off to the Sea Life Centre and David, Lola and I headed to Fleetwood.  This was another trip down memory lane for me as my gran and I and my pal Heather used to get the tram from Bispham to Fleetwood, have our lunch in Fleetwood and then get the ferry to Knott End when my cousin Marilyn would pick us up and take us to stay at hers for a few days.

Once again we parked the car and walked along the prom.  It was such a beautiful day.  So hot.  Hard to believe it's September!  We stopped for ice cream and D bought one for Lola.  She normally only gets doggy ice cream but he'd checked the ingredients with the waitress (it was billed as fresh dairy ice cream and certainly was delicious) and she said it was safe for Lola.  We walked a little way as we ate our ice cream, D stopping to give Lola a lick of her cone.  Just as she was having her 4th lick he asked me how much of it he should let her have.  Well she must have heard him because in a blink she had gobbled the lot!  hahahahaha!

After walking the length of the prom we went back to the car and looked for a supermarket to get some milk and bread on the way back.  We found an Asda and David popped in.  He came back laughing as when he'd gone to the aisle to get deodorant, a rather dodgy looking guy passed him, stopped and picked up a can of Lynx deodorant, sprayed himself from head to toe then put the can back on the shelf and walked off!   Obviously date night!  :-))

The plan for evening was to go to Knott End to photograph the sunset (was hoping for a similar sunset to last night, which was stunning but I didn't get to photograph it).  We set off just before 7pm but I could see the bank of cloud hiding the sun and knew sunset wouldn't be what I had hoped for.  We carried on all the same.

We drove into Knott End and headed toward the prom and as we turned the final corner we were met by an amazing sight....hundreds of bikers!  Well probably not hundreds but it seemed like it!  Looks like they'd had a great day out in the country and were enjoying some refreshments as the sun went down.

We carried on and drove to the little village my cousin Marilyn lives in as we are going there tomorrow for lunch.  As we got closer I recognised the countryside and so many more happy memories came to mind.  Looking forward to seeing them again tomorrow.

The rest of the gang were still not back by 10pm and I'd just said to D that I hoped all was well when my phone pinged with a message from Ally.  It was a selfie of the four of them and Ally was holding a little yellow bag that said Selfridges.  I'd just said to D that I didn't know there was a Selfridges in Blackpool when a text arrived saying they'd ended up in Manchester and were now on their way back.

After they'd been to the Sea life centre they wanted to go shopping so asked a woman at the Sea Life Centre is she could recommend a good shopping centre and she suggested Manchester, so they'd headed there to the Trafford Centre and had a ball!  Alan spent all his birthday money (and then some!) on new clothes and aftershave.  He knows what he likes!!!
