Brother and sister at Edinburgh Castle
Mr hazelh's smallest sister (of three) has come up from Arundel to visit us over the weekend. She travelled by taxi, plane and tram, and arrived at lunchtime. Sarah knows Edinburgh quite well because she worked for Underbelly in the company's second year at the Fringe in 2002. One of her jobs before opening night was to paint the damp peeling walls of their one and only venue on Victoria Street.
This afternoon we took Sarah on a walk through the city: to Holyrood, through Hunter's Bog, past the Commonwealth Pool, to Summerhall (with a break for tea and cakes in the café), over the Meadows, into Greyfriars' churchyard to look at 'Voldemort's' grave and mortsafes, down Victoria Street and through the Grassmarket (where I spotted the family that sat opposite me on the northbound train yesterday), up the steps to the Castle, down the Mound and home again through the New Town. I blipped Mr hazelh and Sarah beneath the Castle on Johnston Terrace.
This evening we celebrate Sarah's visit with Champagne, baked eggs with celeriac and feta, and rhubarb crumble with ice cream.
I have included an extra of our garden in the autumn light this morning. It is interesting to compare this shot to that of May 15th 2021.
Exercise today: walking (17,025 steps).
