Live Music
Paddy Casey from Crumlin.
During the lockdown one thing I really missed was live music. So during the lockdown I booked a couple of concerts well in advance. One of them was Paddy Casey, he had backed up U2 and was with their management for a while. I did not know Paddy's music but the fact that is was live was the thing that appealed to me. He has a lot of success in and around 2005. He was scheduled to appear in the local Mermaid theatre in Bray. As it got closer to the date I decided that I was not really interested in going. I think this is one part of the Covid malaise that has set in. In the end I went with my brother, we usually go to a few music concerts a year and take in the local live music as well.
Paddy Casey had his daughter for back up. It was a small audience and Paddy had a great inter reaction with a lot of easy going banter. He said that during the time when he was unable to go on the road he wrote an opera and a musical. He also learned how to make banana bread.
He is such a talent and with a bigger audience he could really rock the place. I got a sense at the concert at how difficult it must be for the musicans to make a living during these times. To be fair to him he never alluded to it and just got on with the show. His daughter is a great talent as well and gave a couple of her own songs on the keyboard and on guitar.
