The Watercress Line

After breakfast George and I went out for a walk. We walked up a footpath going into Alresford. We were on our way to the station and base of the Watercress Line, a preserved railway. As we turned along the edge of a field there was a noise behind me and along came the steam train engine forward, it made a great picture ... or would have if my camera wasn't still tucked away in the bag!

When we got to Alresford (pronounced Arlesford, I think it's a very old spelling mistake) the train was in and the loco was turning round for the return journey. We had a walk around the station and took a few shots before walking back home.

After changing we headed to Winchester where we were booked in for lunch at the Chesil Rectory, a fascinating medieval house (600 years old). It was a great place to be and a super roast too. After that we went for a walk around Winchester in the sunshine. Ive added an extra of the cathedral close with people relaxing in the autumn sunshine.
