Apple Day
Have planned a number of events at the Community Orchard over a period of time before COVID, and then each one cancelled because of a poor forecast, we had decided that today’s Apple Day would go ahead no matter what the weather. Our faith was rewarded! Despite a forecast of rain moving in from the west from late morning, the weather turned out to be breezy but dry until the last customers left at 3.00pm, then the heavens opened, soaking those valiant volunteers who were left to clear up.
What a success the whole thing was. There were lots of children playing the games provided and taking part in the treasure hunt, as well as adults of all ages who enjoyed the opportunity to meet and chat outdoors. Everyone enjoyed pizza, home baking, marshmallows toasted over the fire pit and fruit punch to drink while also having the opportunity to taste the apples from the orchard. It was great to be part of such a happy occasion.
