A good hike

Walked 2 1/4hrs up to the hang gliding site on top of the Barnicoat range and 1 3/4hrs back down. The forestry road was closed half way up so had to do a detour straight up the hill. It was punishing to say the least. Little had we realised coming down was worse! We haven't been up there for a long time and had forgotten, lol.
Anyway, it was a beautiful afternoon and worth the agony. A fellow was up there ready to sail off with his parachute.
This photo is taken looking westward over Stoke, the Waimea Inlet, Rabbit Island and beyond to the Tasman Ranges.
