At the summit.

No photo I could take today for my journal surpasses this one sent to us at noon - our older son on the summit of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland and the U.K. We’re really proud of his achievement. It was a wet ascent, with a bit of snow and ice at the top, and wet and blowy for much of the descent. He sent some good photos of the views during clearer periods on his descent. He also sent some short video clips from his solo adventure. The first recorded ascent was in August 1771, by an Edinburgh botanist; our older son is now one of the many who’ve made the effort.

Younger son came for dinner, school talk and chat about Ben Nevis.

After this morning’s rain I collected a book (ordered online) from the library. It’s now open fully, albeit it an appointment is needed for browsers. Picked up some more Covid19 test kits from nearby Sports Centre on way past. 2069 cases in Scotland today; hopefully recent surge is passing (hospitalisation is still 1000+). Shame the media isn’t reporting on the vaccination uptake success in Scotland (not a bad news story). Fretting over fuel distribution continues, some petrol stations are dry, I suspect that’ll ease a little soon.
