The Calf of Man

So named because calves and cows from farms on this islet had to swim across to the mainland when their time came!

Today we saw only seals on the rocks, and gulls, although it is now a bird sanctuary. A truly beautiful spot ‘though wild and windy today. This was part of my tour to the south of the island, mainly along coastal roads. We stopped at Port St Mary and Port Erin and to visit an old Manx village in Craigneash. Gail is a wonderful guide and host!

Tomorrow has more treats planned. Tonight the wind is howling down the chimney but we’re keeping warm and dry. Leo and Levi are sound off after some running free time while Gail saw to Simba, her horse. Not really being a horsey person, I stayed in the car with my book….
