Protective clothing

As Mr H wasn't at his usual station on Friday night we've ended up with his fire gear in the house over the weekend. Usually it would stay in his car but I think he is keeping it warm for his next shift. I just keep wondering why the house smells of a cross between hot dogs and a Whitby kipper.
