Edlingham - church, castle and viaduct

Another backblip
Only the church is still in use.
Went to Alnwick for a bit of an explore but decided to leave the gardens until another day as Mr Rat had rather overdone the walking the last couple of days.
Beautiful day and the sun highlighted the castle on the way back so we stopped to explore, it was well worth it. A lovely old church, with lots of information, a castle held up by pieces of wire and a fine viaduct.
In the afternoon we went to Thrunton Woods where there are 2 way-marked trails which the board says are 2 and 4 miles. Mr Rat had a leisurely walk round the short one while I ran round the 5 &1/4 mile "4 mile" one. It was quite tough as there was a very steep and rough downhill bit, a long, steady uphill and a shorter, steeper one - but I made it round. The weather was still warm (but windy for a couple of days) so still able to wear shorts.
