Isles of Scilly day 3

This morning was really pretty rainy so we played cards, watched a few episodes of Dinnerladies - how have I reached the age I am without having seen that before? It’s  brilliant and so funny. Then two of us went to the co-op where we queued outside in the rain for about 10 minutes waiting to see what the morning delivery had brought. And watching people coming out with bulging shopping bags and worrying. So we had a partial success - no vegetables to speak of, except carrots. Cheese available, and vegan meatballs. Oh and lots of cake , biscuits and chocolate. So we will live.
This afternoon we went on the bus - there being only one, though the driver changes the number from day to day - it was 664 today. It goes clockwise around the island, and you can get on and off where you like, though there are dedicated bus stops. We went to Pelistry Bay on the opposite side of the island. On the footpath down to the beach we met some secretive twitchers who didn’t want to share the interesting and rare bird they were looking for. No problem.
So we went to the beach - the first amazing thing we saw was a sunflower growing in the sand. First extra. The next was several seals, hanging about in really shallow water close to the beach. We thought they might be pregnant grey seals looking for a quiet spot to have their pups. And we saw a heron, who was a bit irritated with us and kept moving it’s position. And some oystercatchers, dunlin, and we thought a Mediterranean gull.
A beautiful place, and the sea was as still as a millpond. Second extra. As it was time to leave there was a heavy pulse of rain - so of course we saw a fabulous rainbow- actually two if you count the very faint one.  That’s the main blip.
