King of the wind
is the title of this children's book from 1953, written by Marguerite Henry. It describes the story of the father of all British racehorses, Godolphin of Marocco. I was very young when I first read it and probably did not understand most of it, but I loved it all my life and just sent a copy to my daughter, who takes care of her horse the way the little horse carer slaves were supposed to do, during the life of the horses in their care. I took out my old much loved book (you can 'see' the love) and started reading again.
took it to bed with me and finished it before falling asleep. I have always been a compulsive reader. :-)
