My sunshine

I took this photo! Yep, I got to spend some of the afternoon with my little miss. I got one of her "best hugs ever" as I arrived. She ran out the house, having tracked me on most of my journey, and threw herself into my arms. Where she stayed for a long time. 

Roast dinner was awaiting my arrival and Katie stayed firmly by my side. She and I went for a walk, just the two of us, so we could talk. She was excited to find our walk was well trimmed with blackberries. We also found a lovely wood that she chased and played through. We sat in the sunshine and talked for a while, figuring out a few things to help her with some stuff at school. 

I had brought afternoon tea with me, from a gorgeous French patisserie at home. The girls were heading back to school about 5 so we had tea at 4pm. The impending departure hung heavily for Katie and was tricky for her, so we ended up saying goodbye a little early. It felt like kinder to her to take myself out of the situation so she could have a happy departure from her guardians. It was too short of a time but it was lovely to have cuddles.
