Sandwich Tern

On a cold and drizzly morning we left HPB Lucker soon after 9am. It was high tide and I was hoping for my purple sandpipers to be at Stag Rocks, but it wasn't to be. We didn't look very hard I have to admit as it was blowing a hoolie too. However, not only did we spot what we think was a huge Arctic Skua, but I was quite surprised to see these sandwich terns still hanging about. They look to be juveniles or maybe even just non-breeding adults? 

The journey home was fine and the house is still standing, so all is well :)
