Kath's Journal

White-tailed Lapwing / Plover at Blacktoft Sands

I can't imagine many of you getting excited about this heavily cropped photo of a windswept bird. However, it isn't any old bird. It is, in fact,  a very rare bird  (in the UK) and for that reason alone it is getting a place in my journal. Its legs are supposed to be bright yellow, but it has got itself all muddy.

I also saw a Glossy Ibis at Blacktoft Sands, but it was too far away to photograph. I could see it fairly well through the binoculars, but was disappointed that it didn't look at all glossy. I think the pouring rain, wind and lack of sunshine probably had a lot to do with that.
