The monument.
Horrible weather but a nice day. A leisurely morning then I drove off leaving Roomba to hoover downstairs while I went to meet Veda at Findatie. We had the cafe almost to ourselves which was lovely. Ate hot, thick, ham, leek and potato soup with lovely crusty bread and then had coffee and cake for afters. All home made, Caught up on each others news and sorted out one or two holiday arrangements. We went outside after a while and sat chatting in one of the pods. It wasn't cold and some blue sky appeared with a gleam or two of sunshine. Talk turned to holiday food so we drove off to Loch Leven's Larder. Veda didn't know about Cook ready meals and went a bit berserk when she saw them. The result is we seem to be going to eat nothing but Cook meals and also Cook puddings apart from eating out a couple of nights. Not that I'm complaining. Came home in time to take delivery of sunflower hearts and to load the last prunings into the car. They were dripping this morning but the weather had dried up in the afternoon although still overcast. I drove up the Pillars road hoping that the chestnuts had turned enough for a photo but they hadn't so I made do with the monument and conifers where a few larch trees had begun to colour. The monument commemorates Onisiphorus Tyndall-Bruce whose wife had inherited Falkland Estate. Known in the family as Oni, his name means useful or profitable and he and his wife did many good things for Falkland.
