Red-bellied Woodpecker
While walking at the Arboretum this afternoon we found a birdfeeder where two or three cardinals were eating. By the time we got near they had all scattered. We decided to sit quietly and see if they would return. We saw many sparrows and chickadees, but no cardinals. Just as we were about to give up, this red-bellied woodpecker came to visit.
This was my first serious attempt to photograph birds. I now understand why you need to take many shots to get a decent one. Thank goodness for digital!
Had a very nice walk at the arboretum. The magnolia trees have buds and the snowdrops are just ready to bloom.
