Cloisters
We decided to opt for another trip today to the perfectly preserved medieval village of Santillana del Mar. Considered to be one of the prettiest villages in Spain. It’s on the tourist map so when we’ve visited before we’ve had to contend with tour buses and lots of visitors. It was very quiet today and for most of the time Mr P and I were alone in these cloisters that belong to the Romanesque church of Santa Juliana (was previously a Benedictine Abbey). Back to Laredo for a late lunch, a siesta and then a walk along the seafront. It’s going to be a scorcher tomorrow. Our hottest day so far at 26C.
