Granada TV Studios...

Telltale marks of iconic signage outside the oldest operating TV studios in the UK. For 57 years Granada TV Studios on Quay Street has produced many memorable TV moments, it began broadcasting in May 1956. It was here that the Beatles made their first ever TV performance in 1962 and of course the world's longest running soap, Coronation Street, had its home here until recently. The studios will close soon and all productions will move to a new site in Media City Salford. Presenters and staff of regional news programme Granada Reports bid farewell last week as they make their switch across the city.
