2021 Friday — Pumpkin Porch
The local market is selling pumpkins for a lower price than I have seen them so far this season. I decided it would be fun to decorate the main stairs to the house (a stairway is on each side of the house).
So little-by-Little and pumpkin-by-pumpkin, I’m creating a bit of a harvest autumn mood on the north side of the house. I used to think autumn was my favorite season, but honestly now days I enjoy each new season. People think California doesn’t have seasons, but that’s not correct. The seasons here are not as radical as other places, but they are still obvious and it is interesting how subtle the changes are.
Even on the shoreline we see the changes in the seasons. Often in winter the sand gets taken out to sea and many huge rocks on the shore are exposed. Usually in June seaweed covers the shore; that’s because it is kelp harvesting season. I imagine kelp breaks lose from its roots and then the waves bring it to shore.
Currently autumn has my attention. Pumpkins, gourds, and the scent of cinnamon usher memories down the main aisle of my memory.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
