Borderlines Book Festival 1
After staying overnight with friend R, we set off for Carlisle to attend the Borderlands Book Festival. Having missed attending the Edinburgh festival for two years we were looking forward to it. An uneventful drive and we were very happy to get a parking space at the hotel. We were soon at our first event. MW Craven and Claire Askew talked about their books. We both enjoyed crime fiction so enjoyed the talk, and will be adding them to our list of authors. Then we heard
Roger Bolton talk about his book. about growing up in Carlisle. He had worked at the BBC for many years and had some interesting comments on the way politics works. Event 3 meant a change of venue and we were a few minutes late arriving. Stan Abbott had written about walking from Settle to Carlisle, with some great photos of the walk. Back to our original venue, which, conveniently was where we were staying and our final event.
Alan Johnston was interviewed by Roger Bolton on Alan’s new (and first) novel. A really good session over a wide range of topics, including politics!
Then dinner and bed.
My blip shot shows the stage at the main venue.
