God's Providence House
Following yesterday's door here is a less sinister one.
Behind the church is one of Newport's most interesting town houses now a tea room and restaurant. The oddly named God's Providence House was erected in 1701 on the site of an earlier house. According to the town records it was here in 1584 by 'God's Providence ' the plague stopped spreading.
Inside there is a magnificent original oak staircase which I will try to blip at a later date.
