Portobello Beach Day 209
The fleeting sunshine lured me to walk slowly to the road end this afternoon only to find the sun had gone in again. The sign post points forlornly to "spring" but all the other signs are stuck resolutely in winter. The wind chill is only -3 today so maybe hope springs after all.
The island is called Inchkeith and the snow capped hill behind is one of the two Fife Lomond hills. The buildings to the right/east of the hill is the Fife coastal conurbation of Kirkaldy - not the county town which is inland and called Cupar. The Kirkaldy football team are called Raith Rovers. Football commentators have immortalised this team when extolling Scotlands' football fans celebrating victory by describing them "as dancing in the streets of Raith tonight!" Given Scotland's current performance in World Cup qualification there could a long wait until any dancing in Raith begins again!
