Carbonated Water
When I saw today’s challenge of eighteenth century inventions I thought “no way, but let’s look at what is happening on that front anyway”, and I was shamed into it.
So in 1767 Joseph Priestly accidentally invented carbonated water in a brewery after William Browning had first aerated water with CO2 back in 1740, but it is believed that William Browning was sober . . .
You may have noticed the ghostly finger pressing the gas button in the shot. I think it’s the spirit of William Browning annoyed that his discovery was nicked. A sobering thought . . .
Many thanks to Laurie54 for devising and hosting this month’s MonoMonday challenges.
