A Pain in the Teeth and Wallet

Would you willingly walk into a room to be greeted by two people dressed like this? Well I did and I walked out £590 poorer. No wonder they are smiling.

The world has suddenly gone mad in every sphere and this particular sphere is my dentist’s surgery where this afternoon I had two X-rays, a temporary crown fitted and a cleaning and polishing. It is a NHS dentist’s but it does crowns privately.

Worse is still to come when later next month I have two more crowns replaced which were fitted at no charge when I was pregnant 40 years ago. How times have changed in my life time.

Not so long ago, though, before the NHS started in 1948, it was the fashion for many young women to have all their teeth removed about the time of marriage. With false teeth fitted, they saved the expense of having dental treatment later.
I can begin to understand.
