Mono Monday: Inventions of the 18th Century

In 1790, the first patent for a sewing machine was issued to Thomas Saint. His patented plans were for a machine that could sew leather. Singer sewing machines came during the following century. 

This particular machine belonged to my mum’s mum. It was originally given to her by her own mother (my great-grandmother) on her wedding day.
