A day to remember!
I’ve had a very special day with three lovely hat friends. We’ve stayed over in London in an Airbnb and today have gone to the first day of London Craft week.
Our first stop was the Burlington Arcade, where we saw a window display of hats inspired by Meissen porcelain. It had just opened, so we were fortunate to meet three of the creators of the hats checking their displays in the window, and had a lovely chat with them. We were all a little star struck, and cross we didn’t ask for selfies! They all make hats for ‘the royals’!
. We then went to Fortnums to see a display of 3 heritage crafts. After brunch along Piccadilly, we went to a gallery in Belgravia with a display of sculptures from natural materials. ( seeextras) Off to the Oxo Tower, then a walk along the river to The Swan by the globe. We finished the day by visiting another milliner who the others knew, who had just moved to a new shop just behind Selfridges, in New Quebec Street. An absolute treasure trove of a shop, and a lovely lady - it’s called John Boyd.
We then went for an excellent curry nearby, as recommended by Sarah the milliner, called Roti Chai. I’d definitely go back there, as it was different to a usual curry house, far more relaxed and very good value for London!
I think we’d consider making a few more days of it in the future, as many activities are spread over the week.
Would highly recommend it to anyone near London.
