Shield tree

I’ve driven past this tree countless times in the last 18 months or so and never noticed the mark where a shield was cut from the bark until it was pointed out to me (us white fellas never use our eyes!). The traditional custodians here are the Peramangk and so I’m guessing it was one of theirs. Another sign of the long history of this land.
