A Flash of Red

It always puzzles me that some trees, mostly red maples like this one, will have a solitary branch that turns completely while the rest of the tree is still green.  It sure catches your eye, like when a red cardinal lands in a tree.  We will reach peak color next week so now we watch day by day as the color spreads across the landscape.
