Seascape

Today the weather was meant to be fine, but Orkney is a match for any forecast. We caught the ferry over to Hoy, cycled 6 miles and then walked a further 3 miles to the Old Man of Hoy. Luckily the wind was blowing off the sea as we peered over the edge to the 137m stack which was buffeted by waves. It’s only about 400 years old and is mainly made of sandstone, so that it is not predicted to have a long life. Definitely worth seeing while you can!
