A memory keeper

My mother’s mother was an artist. She died when I was only six, but I remember her well. She was always fun to be with because she had such an active imagination and easily joined me in child’s play. She painted pictures, she crafted lampshades, and she made this butterfly display hanging on my wall. Apparently she bought the butterfly at the local Five and Dime store, and then arranged it with milkweed seeds and dry stalks, pressed between glass.
I was given this after her death as a keepsake. I hung it in my bedroom, and then in my college dorm room, and then in every home I’ve lived in. It always brings me joy!
