Gliding away
After another day of meetings I went for a late afternoon jog along the edge of the incoming tide. I got reasonably close to a Kuaka which was hanging around with half a dozen Torea (oystercatchers), and appeared to use their agitation at my presence, to take itself away. Initially running behind them, it took to the air when it fell too far behind. My photo was taken as it glided in to land near the Torea.
Further along the beach were a half dozen other Kuaka further north along the beach which departed before I got close enough to be absolutely certain they were Kuaka.
The first day of the new rules for our lockdown, made little difference here, and probably elsewhere for most people.
