Gate at Riddle's Court
Lawnmarket, Royal Mile, Edinburgh, Scotland. The three doves are the personal symbol used by Sir Patrick Geddes 1854 - 1932, biologist and town planner.
He used them to represent three S's standing for Sympathy, Synthesis and Synergy.
Sympathy for the people and environment affected by any social remedy; synthesis of all the factors relevant to the case; and synergy which was the combined co-operative action of everyone involved - in order to achieve the best result. The doves also represent peace (http://metagraphies.org/Sir-Patrick-Geddes/university-militant/geddesexhib04web.pdf)
