Modern Chain Gang

The last section of the old Northallerton Prison has started to be developed. We are promised a cinema, restaurants and other outlets. I'm guessing in years gone by more members of a chain gang would have been needed to break this hardcore.

The complex is called Treadmills after the fact the prison once had the biggest treadmill in the would. I find it ironic that part of the old buildings will house a gym where you'll need to pay if you want to use their treadmills!

I do wonder if in my lifetime sleeping rough will become an extreme sport...
