The Timpaan
Tympanum
On my blip of today the community garden. This is where the community building used to be. The building was called the Timpaan.
Above the entrance to this building was a tympanum of marlstone. This tympanum was a remnant from the old rectory that was on this site before the community building. Phew, what a long story. On this tympanum of the old rectory was the text of Pythagoras: "If you want to multiply joy, you must divide it." Very beautiful actually.
Now, the new community pond has the same shape as the old tympanum of the old rectory. Also very nice, but I wonder how the renovation of the facing brick is going and when it will get a place in the garden.
