Dog coaching

First frosty morning this autumn and I had to scrape the ice off the car to get to an early yoga class. I was back home having a leisurely second breakfast when E called round with latest National Trust magazine. He had the dregs of the coffee pot, and then I left to visit R.
The blip, is Queens Park where I spent a chunk of the afternoon with Liv in the pram, trailing behind L and Islay dog who was having her first session with the dog coach. Somewhat to my surprise it was a very useful to watch and listen. Next time I look after Islay I will endeavour to follow the advice, much of it feels counterintuitive and will require lots of practice, including the dog walker which I suspect is asking quite a lot.
Apparently dogs scratch when they are bored. I’m not convinced about that. And a dog should always give their consent before someone they don’t know claps them. That I do get, and the same should apply to humans although thankfully there is rather less hugging and so on these days.
Wonderful programme on BBC Alba about the Fife Coastal Path, my spring project I think.
