Finding Joan

Cheap train to Stonehaven.
Cycle up and out,
against the sea breeze.
Dunnotar, the castle in the sea.
Onwards to Catterline.
The Creel Inn for rest and skink,
simply the best.
A painting on the wall.
The wee hoose she lived in.
The spot she painted, the hooses, the sea, the bay with beautiful light.
Onwards and upwards, straight into the breeze.
Farms, birds, cows, horses, homes for all.
Down through Inverbervie, skirting the coastline, seeking shelter.
Through to Gourdon,
for beer and fish & chips.
All for Joan,
Eardley, who painted from her soul.
