"Boompjes" or "trees" might sound like a funny name for a street. However, it is named after a landscaped promenade between the Leuvehaven and the Old Port (oude haven) on which a double row of lime trees was placed in 1615. Destroyed in 1940, today its a major throroghfare and an extension of Maasboulevard.
