Steampunk!
Off to Haworth today to sing with our community choir at the Steampunk Festival. Such a brilliant event with every conceivable outfit under the sun making an appearance. Speaking to those in costume it seems that things are evolving as originally the costumes were along the lines of Goth and were quite dark - now people are branching out and there was even a rainbow lady - she had been told it wasn’t the done thing to wear a lot of colour, so she decided to go the whole hog! Some fantastic accessories, and I particularly liked the shoes worn by the event organiser (centre of collage). This year some of our choir dressed up too - think more of us will be doing that next time. We sang for almost an hour and had a great audience on the Main Street. Disconcerting for some at the end to turn round and see the “Grim Reaper” dancing away behind us, haha! A great afternoon and good to getting back into singing at these events. We have bookings to sing at the Christmas Lights switch on events in Bingley and Skipton next month, so Christmas songs are on the agenda from next week!
