Flour and sand
To the north of the county to collect flour from the mill, which was closed during the pandemic and recently for the mill stones to be reground and the spokes to be replaced.
Today the mill was grinding again and the flour was trickling out (as per thumbnail) into a wooden trough from which the miller filled the bags. She was happy to have the machinery back in good working order.
The mill has been here since the 17th century.

Then out to long curving Poppit beach stretching far into the distance at one of the year's lowest tides. In contrast to the our rocky local shores Poppit is sand as far as the eye can see. As I emerged through the dunes I was thrilled to find an unfamilar mushroom growing among the marram grass. It's been identifed as Melanoleuca cinereifolia Dune Cavalier [cavalier? why? The Latin name signifies black/white ashy leaves.]
To continue the fungal theme, the evening's showing at the cinema was Pig, in which Oregon forest hermit Nicholas Cage goes in search of his stolen truffle pig: an absolute gem albeit as mysterious, dark and intense as the subterranean tuber itself.
