Finding My Bearings

Demolition Derby!

Spent the entire day taking down our old summer house. I thought it would just be a quick and easy case of taking down the walls and roof in five whole parts but it was a huge job. It was lined with plasterboard, which kept crumbling into small bits and made a dreadful mess, and was insulated with fibreglass stuff that made us all itch - quite hard-going getting it all sorted, even with the help of my husband's brother and his girlfriend. They came armed with crowbars, axes and sledgehammers and we laughed at the thought of them having to try and explain that lot if they'd got stopped by the police on the way down! Luckily, our crazy cat lady lovely kind neighbour burnt the wooden bits on her bonfire and we've bagged up the rest, ready to be taken to wherever accepts plasterboard and fibreglass.

I've put an 'after' picture in the 'extras'. The area still needs a bit of a final tidy up but we were really pleased to find that the brick base is intact as we're going to put a decking floor on it and build a pergola - no doubt during another trip down by the 'outlaws'!

We were absolutely knackered afterwards but I cooked a nice dinner (even if I say so myself!) and our recycling bin is now fairly well-filled with empty wine bottles!
