Oakwell Hall Country Park
What a glorious day. Such a change from yesterday, but I suppose those dull days make us appreciate today even more.
Mr C had a longer walk round the village, while I went for a walk round Oakwell Hall Country Park.
Always busy on a Sunday, but once out of the children’s play area and you have the woods to yourself.
The trees are still quite green except for one or two.
I love the light and shade at this time of year.
Plenty of grapes on the trellis near the cafe, and although I couldn’t see them there were some brown rats scuttling about eating them.
Fortunately the couple sat on the bench underneath weren’t bothered, but a Jack Russell was going crazy.
Decided on a collage of my walk, which includes a photo of the Sculptural Gates, installed in 2015 and tell the story of Oakwell Hall.
Also a photo of the Miner’s Memorial on the site of. Gomersal Colliery, which closed in 1972. The little boy came into the picture just as I clicked the camera. Decided to keep him in the photo as you can see the then size of the sculpture.
Back home, and bacon sandwiches for lunch. Now to do some more gardening before it gets dark. The night seems to creep up very quickly now. Dark before 7pm.
Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather too.
